A good local transport network is more than just a way to get around. A good local transport network is the key to unlocking new jobs, a growing economy and a better standard of living. That’s why we’re making big changes to our trains, roads and buses — and I want your views on them.
Thanks to the huge numbers of responses to my first transport survey in and around Cullompton earlier this year, it was clear that the top transport priority was a new railway station. It is great news that the government will now deliver what Mid Devon residents want.
With a new station on the way for Cullompton, now is the time to share your further priorities for local trains, roads and buses. So why not take this short follow up transport survey?
We’re focused on making long-term decisions for the country and for Mid Devon. And one of the most important we’ve made is to scrap the rest of HS2.
Over the last few years, the cost of HS2 has almost tripled while delays have grown and grown. This is a waste of taxpayers’ cash — and it stops now.
By cancelling the rest of HS2, we can reinvest every single penny in hundreds of transport projects across the country. Including a new station for Cullompton.
These projects will be delivered quicker than HS2 — and every single region outside London will get the same level of investment as they would’ve had with HS2.
That means new train stations, better roads, more frequent buses, new bus routes, extra cycle paths and more.
So, let’s build a better transport network for Mid Devon. Share your views with me on local roads, rail and buses.
My team and I will read every response. Your views will help to shape what happens next with our train station, including how frequent trains are, as well as shaping our plans for the local transport network more generally.
It takes just sixty seconds to fill in the survey below.
Yours sincerely,
Simon
